In Memory of Our Friend Spencer Parris (SPE)

Spencer Parris

This site is in dedication to our friend Spencer Parris.....His short life was taken from us and we want a place that when you google his name you will be able to read positive thoughts about this guy we all loved. So many people loved him and posted beautiful memories of Spencer. It is a shame that the papers are portraying him in a way that wasn't really him. At least when you google his name you will be able to find this....

Here is the link to all of the loving comments those that knew him wrote....

I thought it would be nice if people could share a personal story about Spe. I could write a hundred whether it was about playing scrabble and knowing every 3 letter word in the dictionary that got the most points or drinking 40's on Quaker Road and then going out in New City or the Hamptons or Fort Lee or all the beautiful girls but I think what keeps coming back to me is the transformation of him from being a Sergio Taquini Guido with glasses into a quasi Celebrity. Please share!!!

My favorite momory os Spencer is how he dressed up as a chick magnet on Halloween. He had Barbies all over him! Such the perfect costume for him. The other thing that always reminds me of him is the song True by Spandau Ballet. He loved it, he would blast that song over and over. I will always think of him when I hear it. I will miss him

My brother always wanted to make me laugh. Started when we were little little when the first Pillsbury dough boy commercials started to air. Spencer would poke my belly and sing the song and giggle so loud - he thought it was hysterical. This tradition actually continued all our adult lives as well....one of those really dumb but funny games between brothers and sisters. Juts like the way we got off the phone each and every day- I would say I love you Spe and he said "Sam I love you more" He sad these words to me the last time we spoke wed night.

Samantha, it has been a long time since we've caught up. I do want to tell you, that each time i spent with Spe, he spoke so highly of you. He cherished you. He was a guy who i always laughed with and felt like home with. he had the warmest smile. My heart goes out to you and your Mom. I am so sorry about this tragedy.

I have vivid memories of our teenage years, having fun all the time playing sports in the neighborhood, early days of Madden football video games, getting our first cars, and riding the Rangers '94 Stanley Cup run with Spe....and getting into just a small amount of trouble along the way:-> His cynical New York humor, his love of all sports (Raiders, Rangers, Yankees) and his desire to win are things I will remember. I will have to tell all of you Yankee fans out there that he was a MET fan in the 80's :-> In the last 10 years he was my best man at my wedding, and even though we were not as close these last 10 years, he still made it a point to come to the hospital for the birth of my first son Zachary. I had a few beers w/ Spe about a month ago and we hugged like long lost brothers...

I am in complete shock. I met him in 2003, would hear from him sporadically, & I hadn't been in touch with him since the end of 2006 or so, but when I knew him, he seemed successful, happy, and just "living the life". He always seemed to be out and about, with a million friends- he was like the MAYOR, and having fun. He was silly- I remember going to his apt in Ft Lee- he liked to order Chinese food from a place called "Look See" because he liked the name- he thought it was funny. One time, I came to pick something up I left with him & he immediately had me on the phone with one of his many girl friends (that I didn't know) "counseling" her about her jdate experiences. With him, a scenario like that didn't even seem odd. He also was sweet- It wasn't long after we met, I went on a business trip and wasn't getting into Newark Airport til like 1a. He offered/came to pick me up from the airport. I was surprised. He totally went out of his way. My condolences go out to all his friends and family.

Hi Tara, I am not sure, but if I remember correctly... that may have been me on the phone with you and Spe? =) Or it could have been another time... definitely not a rarity for him. Hope all is well, M

It probably was! Whomever I was speaking to was named Michele. It was in the winter of 2003 I think. I walked in the door, he was getting phone calls on the house phone and his cell, put me on the phone and that was how the night went. lol.

Love it!!! I remember that night clearly.. hilarious.. I mean, if Spe couldn't give advice on how to date in NYC, who could?

We smoked our first cigarette together, we got high for the first time together in Larry's basement on "B" street (remembering the fort), many first times with my brother. He may have been a better stick-ball player than me, but I had him beat at blades of steel and techmo bowl. From hanging at the stores to going to concerts, from the endless duals to cruising in his olds, he was a confidant like no other. The brotherhood that he, larry, don and I had throughout our childhood remains strong and will be with me forever. The last time I saw Spe was about 3 + years ago, I came into town and gave him a call. We met at a sports bar and kicked it for a few hours just like we were sitting in larry's room many years ago. "who's got the extra dollar?" "got a cigarette.....got a light"......

AT... I never inhaled !!!! Check out the pictures I posted - that is you at my Bar Mitzvah. And now we are both bald :-> And Spe had all his hair - never lost it!

The cobwebs are clearing out.....here's a few good ones: Walking the tracks cause we cut (Pomona) Walking down to Pacetter Park, playing pool and video games ...Larry....wiffle ball on the side of your house on our way to a SV party in his Olds....his whipers are out and it's raining....rather than miss the party , we throw the wipers back and forth to each other....get to the party and we each have one arm soaked. The day he bought Prastein's Z28 him and Leibo going to see Ronnie James at the Beacon...(we should have gone) ....my favorite: Singing Kiss songs on the schoolbus on our way to Colton and coming home from school...his famous "Hi Ben!".....that one makes me laugh

There are so many memories that I have of growing up with Spencer. We have been friends for so very long. It is so hard to believe that he is gone and how sad I am that we had lost touch over the years. I will always remember these old school desks that we both had when we were little, I think about 4 years old.. We went to Lake George with my parents and Spencer's parents for a vacation. The 6 of us (our parents left my sister and Sam home) were in one car and we stopped on the way home at some antique store and our parents bought each of us these old school wooden desks with a swivel chair attached with the top of the desk opening up to store things inside. We used to play with them for as long as I can remember. As we grew up, the memories of hanging out on the weekends and having fun are endless. Speeee Z...P... I will always remember you and will always miss you...Jodi

Laura Rosenblatt

Def too many funny memories to write...but always loved Monday night movies in Bryant park with Spe......and sunday nights at the apt with the crew including the "new" girl Spe would be dating at the time :)
